Not Just Another D&I Event
The Corecom Group’s Diversity and Inclusion Ambassadors Aishia Ullah and Dom Brown recently hosted a collaboration event with our sister company, Corecom Consulting named ‘Not Just Another D&I Event’.
The event was themed around intersectionality, specifically what it is, the current ED&I trends, challenges faced by businesses around the digital skills shortage, and how better hiring, training, and retention processes that celebrate ED&I, Neurodiversity, Social Mobility, and Intersectionality can help businesses fill their skills gap.
Our panellists of experts on ED&I comprised of:
John Ebo - Head of Projects ED&I at Leeds City Council
Cleveland Henry - Group Delivery & Deployment Director at EMIS
Holly Straker-Humphreys - Head of Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging at Improbable
James Taylor – Managing Director at CTA
The panel came together to distinguish strategies to get more applications from underrepresented groups, debated why change is actually a good thing for ED&I in the recruitment process, and why listening and acting on ideas from different backgrounds is so important. Allowing people from underrepresented groups to have a voice, along with inspiring more people is the best way to continue the conversation around ED&I.
It's safe to say the whole room left educated with new ideas ready to be implanted both personally and professionally, as acknowledged by an attendee:
“The best D&I event I have ever attended. Excellently presented with some fantastic speakers, and wonderful hosts and I loved the topics covered. It's hard to find events like this that are leading by example, practicing what they preach, and covering topics that many organisations are not brave enough to cover. A very worthwhile and important event.”
CTA works with businesses to upskill and train the Tech talent they need, with diversity and inclusion at the heart of what they do. Speak to James Taylor about how you can hire and train a diverse and skilled team.
